What is
Chasing Zebras?
Zebras' stripes evolved to confuse predators — a single zebra is a target, but a herd of running zebras becomes a blur. I learned that in college, around the same time I started understanding how my own mind works in waves. Chasing Zebras is about finding focus in short sprints, about pursuing the things that matter during the windows when pursuit is possible. This site is what I make in those windows. Sometimes alone. Increasingly with a community.
Why
we're here
We come into this world with a sense of child-like wonder. We need to nurture that sense to stay whole.
We love games that help us reach feelings we can seldom access otherwise. Sometimes the feelings are good — curiosity, joy, serenity. Sometimes they're bad — fright, sadness, loneliness. But when we've been so locked out of our feelings, even the bad ones remind us that we're alive.
That's why this place exists. Not to score the games. To make a record of what they mean to us.
